About
Hello, I'm Mike Yates.
I believe in the capabilities of every person.
Welcome to Harmony Hypnosis. As a trained hypnotist, I believe in the capabilities of every person. Everyone experiences difficulties or problems in life at one time or another. I believe each person has the solution to his or her problem deep inside the unconscious mind.
The key to finding and using that solution is hypnosis, the process by which we go into a trance. Trance is an ordinary, everyday experience we all have: listening to our favorite music, reading a good book, watching our favorite movie. We turn our attention inward, our eyes glaze over, and we go into a trance, much like daydreaming.
I am trained to facilitate the process of hypnosis and lead you into a comfortable, relaxing trance where you can reach that deeper, wiser part of yourself that knows different ways of thinking, feeling, and doing.
I invite you to contact me about your difficulty or problem.

How hypnosis may help
Smoking cessation
Hypnosis may help a person quit smoking by promoting focused attention and relaxation while encouraging healthier thoughts and behaviors. During a session, a trained professional may help you identify smoking triggers, strengthen motivation, and practice responses to cravings without reaching for a cigarette.
Results vary, and hypnosis is not guaranteed to work for everyone. It may be most effective when combined with other evidence-based support, such as counseling, a quit-smoking plan, or medications recommended by a health care professional.
Fears and phobias
Hypnosis is a supportive tool for managing anxiety and fears. It may help some people reduce fears or phobias by promoting deep relaxation and focused attention.
In this state, a trained hypnotist can guide a person to reconsider anxious thoughts, to imagine responding calmly to the feared situation, and to practice coping strategies. Over time, these techniques may lessen the intensity of fear and increase a sense of control.
Control your appetite
Hypnosis is a guided state of focused attention and increased responsiveness to suggestions. A trained hypnotist may use this state to help you examine eating habits, strengthen motivation, and practice new responses to hunger, cravings, and emotional triggers.
Hypnosis does not control a person's mind or make weight loss happen automatically. Instead, it may help reinforce behaviors that support your own goals.
How a session might work ↓How an appetite-control session might work
Starting with your goals
A session may begin with a discussion of your goals and the situations that make healthy eating difficult. These might include eating while stressed, snacking out of boredom, eating quickly, or continuing to eat after feeling full. Identifying these patterns helps the hypnotist develop suggestions that are relevant to you.
Relaxation and focused attention
The hypnotist typically guides you through breathing, relaxation, and focused-attention exercises. You remain conscious and can usually hear and respond to what is being said. This focused state may make it easier to consider constructive ideas and rehearse healthier choices.
Noticing hunger and fullness
Suggestions may encourage you to notice physical hunger and fullness more carefully. For example, you might practice pausing before eating, eating more slowly, checking whether hunger is physical or emotional, and stopping when comfortably satisfied. The goal is not to suppress necessary hunger but to improve awareness of the body's signals.
Rehearsing new responses to cravings
Hypnosis may also be used to rehearse alternative responses to cravings or emotional triggers. You might visualize taking a short walk, drinking water, practicing relaxation, or choosing a satisfying portion rather than automatically reaching for a particular food. These techniques are intended to create a pause between an urge and a response.
Practical habits and self-hypnosis
Suggestions can focus on practical habits, such as planning meals, keeping nutritious options available, eating without distractions, getting adequate sleep, and engaging in regular physical activity. Some hypnotists also teach self-hypnosis, allowing you to practice relaxation and positive suggestions independently between sessions.
What to expect
Hypnosis may help some people improve motivation, self-awareness, and consistency with behavior changes. However, it is not a guaranteed weight-loss treatment, and its effects can vary. Sustainable weight loss programs generally include weekly weigh-ins and depend on a combination of eating patterns, physical activity, sleep, stress management, health conditions, medications, and other individual factors. Hypnosis should be viewed as a possible complement to a broader health plan rather than a replacement for nutrition counseling or medical care.
Other concerns
Hypnosis may be helpful as a complementary approach for certain concerns. Results vary from person to person, and hypnosis should not replace medical, psychological, or psychiatric care when that care is needed.
Stress and relaxation
Hypnosis may help people develop relaxation skills, reduce physical tension, and respond more calmly to everyday stress. Sessions can introduce guided imagery, breathing techniques, and suggestions that support a greater sense of control during stressful situations.
Anxiety and worry
As part of a broader treatment plan, hypnosis may help some people manage generalized anxiety, persistent worry, or anxious reactions to particular circumstances. It may encourage more balanced thinking, improved self-soothing, and greater awareness of unhelpful thought patterns.
Sleep
Hypnosis may be used to support healthier sleep routines and address difficulty relaxing at bedtime, frequent waking, or unhelpful pre-sleep habits. It is most appropriate when underlying medical and psychological causes of sleep problems have also been considered.
Chronic pain
Some people use hypnosis as an adjunctive technique for managing chronic pain or discomfort associated with medical procedures. Suggestions involving relaxation, attention, imagery, and changes in the perception of discomfort may help improve coping and daily functioning. Hypnosis does not diagnose or treat the underlying cause of pain.
Dental and medical procedures
Hypnosis may help some individuals prepare for or cope with discomfort, tension, or anxiety related to dental work, medical procedures, or rehabilitation. It should be coordinated with the treating health care team and used alongside appropriate medical pain relief and safety measures.
Headaches and migraines
For some individuals, hypnosis may support relaxation and help identify or manage stress-related patterns that accompany headaches or migraines. It should be considered only after appropriate medical evaluation, particularly when headaches are new, severe, or changing.
Habit change
Hypnosis may help reinforce personal goals and increase awareness of automatic behaviors. Depending on your needs, it may be used to support nail biting reduction, skin-picking management, improved study routines, healthier stress responses, or other habit changes. Progress usually depends on practice, motivation, and complementary strategies.
Performance and confidence
Some people use hypnosis to prepare for public speaking, examinations, athletic events, auditions, or other performance situations. Sessions may focus on concentration, constructive self-talk, mental rehearsal, and confidence-building rather than promising a particular outcome.
Self-talk and personal goals
Hypnosis may help some individuals strengthen constructive self-talk, clarify personal goals, and practice responses that align with their values. It can be incorporated into counseling or coaching when the goals are realistic and clearly defined.

Important considerations
- Hypnosis is not equally effective for every person or every problem.
- Medical symptoms should receive an appropriate evaluation before hypnosis is used as a complementary approach.
- Hypnosis should not be presented as a guaranteed cure or as a substitute for prescribed treatment.
- Please discuss hypnosis with your health care provider if you have significant mental health symptoms, neurological conditions, or concerns about how it may interact with ongoing care.
